Darren BurrowsDarren Burrows, Sustainable Buildings and Low Carbon expertDarren is a Chartered mechanical engineer with key area of interest in the application of sustainability and low energy principles. He is the main point of contact for all BREEAM, EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes assessments, and the new Defence Estates DREAM system and leads a team of sustainability assessors within Mott MacDonald , giving strategic capability across the UK.

Darren was recently involved in the Home Office Consolidation Project in Sheffield, with responsibility for M&E and Sustainability issues. This work will result in not only the first BREEAM Excellent office in South Yorkshire, but one of the highest scores ever achieved.

Darren views the key to a successful environmentally-sound building being early involvement and has experience of early stage design team mobilisation in preparing for and achieving high BREEAM ratings. Darren is also experienced in the use of advanced building modelling techniques including IES, SBEM and CFD, for the design and assessment of buildings, and uses the BRE ENVEST system to assess the whole life impact of constructions. He is on the Register of Low Carbon Consultants, following examination in 2006.
