Mott MacDonald is one of the world’s leading employee-owned
management, engineering and development consultancies. With 13,000
staff and our multi-disciplinary outlook, we are ideally placed to
develop and deliver unique and innovative solutions to challenges
posed by the sustainability agenda.
"We recognise that sustainability is a key
element of our corporate responsibility and we work in partnership
with our customers, communities and supply chains to embed
sustainability principles into our projects and day-to-day
operations."
Peter Wickens, Chairman, Mott MacDonald GroupThe nature
of our work means that improving the living standards of local
communities and reducing impacts on the environment are high on the
project agenda across our whole business spectrum. For example, our
health and education specialists are helping reform and develop
services in many low and middle-income countries by building
partnerships at all levels of government and society, while our
transport experts look at new models for achieving sustainable
highway maintenance services.
As well as advising our customers on sustainable solutions, we also
assess our own operations and continue to build on our sustainable
approach to business – which supports our use of the EFQM
Excellence Model and our accreditation to ISO 14001.
All our offices have Local Environment Practice Plans supporting
corporate and staff activities ranging from sustainable
procurement, to green travel plans, to reducing our carbon
footprint and consumption of water and paper, as well as protecting
the local environment through other initiatives such as wildlife
clubs.
Our intranet system provides the forum for numerous discussion
groups related to sustainable development. Our Group Sustainability
Forum encourages technical and social debates on current issues,
enabling our staff to exchange valuable information worldwide,
creating a global network within the company and industry as a
whole.
Through our work we have developed close working relationships with
many of other groups involved in leading the way with sustainable
development including the World Bank, IFC, Development Banks,
Multilateral Agencies, and UN Organisations.
