Too many cars on the roads mean more pollution and
traffic jams and slower journey times. In the UK we’re working with
local government to help encourage motorists onto public transport
– one way is through reliable integrated real-time travel
information systems
Mott MacDonald promotes sustainable transport systems, allowing
us to work towards a cleaner, safer environment.
Our input ranges from creating real-time traffic information
websites helping the UK’s Highways Agency combat congestion to
utilising recycled pavement material in earthworks for schemes such
as the M40 Ardley interchange. We’ve also provided advice to Kent
County Council on social, economic, environmental, aviation and
infrastructure issues related to the UK government’s regional
airports study for south east England.
As congestion with all its economic impacts worsens and
environmental concerns escalate, integrated transport solutions are
increasingly needed to promote sustainability. Our contribution
includes developing multi-modal interchanges such as the new
transport hub at Manchester Airport linking heavy and light rail,
air, bus, coach and taxi.
